Turkey, stuffing, cranberry sauce, and miles of pies– the traditional Thanksgiving dinner and all the goodies that come with it are just too hard to resist, but why bother when you can just burn them off the next day?
Post-Thanksgiving Fun Exercises
On an average, Americans eat about 3,000 and 4,500 calories on Thanksgiving Day. But it’s the one time of the year when you shouldn’t be counting the calories and just enjoy the food that you eat. However, that oozing calories must be burned off the following day at least! For the couch potatoes, worry not because there are fun ways to do it without being a gym junkie.
1. Play Football in the Backyard
What could be more fun than playing football in the backyard together? Instead of sitting on the couch and playing with your gadgets, sweat off the dinner you just shared together. You can burn up to 300 calories in just thirty minutes!
2. Help Clean the House
Not only your mom and dad will thank you, but your body will also do for burning off some calories. An hour of vacuuming and vigorous cleaning will shed you 200 calories.
3. Play Virtual Sports
Too cold to go out? You can also try firing up the Wii and play video games that will get you punching, swinging, and sweating. Burn off 100 calories in an hour of fun!
4. Sleep in
Now you have the perfect excuse snooze off and just relax! Studies show that well-rested people burn 20% more calories after a meal than their counterparts.
The Bottom Line
Burning off calories doesn’t always mean heading to the gym and dedicating all of your time there. Enjoy your Thanksgiving dinner sans the guilt, just more fun activities after indulging with that turkey and mashed potatoes!
