Gratitude Meditation for Thanksgiving

Each year around Thanksgiving and throughout November as a whole, we have the opportunity to reflect inwards and think about all the things in our life that we are thankful for. Before every thanksgiving dinner, my family goes around the table and speaks on one thing we are grateful for the opportunity to gather with family, the blessings that the last year has brought us, or obstacles that we faced and overcame.

Gratitude can be a powerful tool that can uplift you, and it’s something that should be practiced as much as possible. At Purlife, we recognize how powerful gratitude can be, so we wanted to share a gratitude meditation that you can practice this Fall.

Gratitude Meditation – How to Focus On Thankfulness

Don’t let the only time that you feel gratitude be this Thanksgiving. The next time you have a minute to meditate, focus on gratitude. Incorporating gratitude into your meditation can be a fun exercise that will keep you grounded and make you feel great about the people in your life. Here is how you can incorporate thankfulness into your gratitude meditation.

Get Comfortable and Start Breathing

To get the most out of your meditation, you want to be sure that you are in a quiet place where you can relax. It helps if you have a room in your house or even a corner in your bedroom where you can get comfortable next to your healing crystals and gemstones. It helps to grab your healing stone or crystal and keep it while you meditate. Amethyst, Rose Quartz, or Green Aventurine are great for channeling gratitude.

Then, you want to dim the lights so that you can close your eyes and concentrate. You begin your meditation by breathing. Take deep breaths and focus on your breathing.

Feel Gratitude All Over Your Body

Once you have your breathing down, it’s time to start thinking about gratitude. Try to feel gratitude all over your body, from your toes all the way up through your head. Try to feel gratitude in your fingers, in your toes, in your chest, in your mind. Stop at each place and really focus on things that you are grateful for, especially the parts of yourself that you struggle to love the most.

Allow Your Body to Radiate Gratitude

Once you feel gratitude in every spot within your body, you want to focus on radiating that gratitude outward. Really visualize yourself sending that gratitude to everyone in your life. Feeling like you are radiating gratitude can begin to change your perspective and your outlook on things. You will feel more content and appreciate everything and everyone in your life.
